CHURCH FOLK TOO MUCH PHARISEES SPIRIT & NOT ENOUGH GRACE!
This morning as almost every morning I was watching Bill Winston. He said that a lot of small churches have problems growing because once people come in and are saved they forget they were once heathens. He was speaking about grace and how we have ALL been saved through grace and grace alone.
There is nothing that any of us have done to deserve the grace, love, and mercy that God gives us but thank God for His grace! The scripture says that it is a gift from God. The example Pastor Winston used was someone smoking outside of the church and then they come inside the church and the members respond not with a warm welcome but with condemnation, oooh he/she smells like smoke and....followed by gossip. Again, grace is a gift that we did not earn and we are all saved by it. It is so easy to forget and put yourself up on a pedastal and look down on others. However, the only time you should be looking down to someone is when you are picking them up.
Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--"

Romans 12:3 "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you."
Psalm 103: 10 " he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities."
If God was to give all of us the treatment we deserve we would all be dead and in the pits of hell but thank God for Jesus!
This all made me think about the Pharisees. I believe a lot of Christians "church going folk" have what I want to call a Pharisees spirit. The Pharisees "The name Pharisee in its Hebrew form means separatists, or the separated ones. They were also known as chasidim, which means loyal to God, or loved of God - extremely ironic in view of the fact that by His time, they made themselves the most bitter, and deadly, opponents of Jesus Christ and His message.
The Pharisees perhaps meant to obey God, but eventually they became so devoted and extremist in very limited parts of The Law (plus all that they themselves added to it), that they became blind to The Messiah when He was in their very midst. They saw His miracles, they heard His Words, but instead of receiving it with joy, they did all that they could to stop Him - eventually to the point of getting Him killed because He truthfully claimed to be the Son of God." (http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/pharisee.htm)
I thought of the Pharisees because I see so many in the church that want to feel like they know everything about God and scripture that they then can preach to others, put down others and attempt to tell others inside and outside of the church what to do.

Matthew 5:16 "let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
I won't tell anyone what they should or should not do....I was just moved to type this blog on today. I was in a blogging state of mind. I will just end with one of my favorite verses in the bible!
1 Thessalonians 4:11 "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you,"
Sadly, the ones whom can learn something from many messages always hear/read the message and figure out how it applies to everyone but them!

Broken, But Healed
Broken, But Healed
Byron Cage
[Verse 1:]
So you enter into this building,
you brought your burdens, brought your pain.
I have a message for you today,
that when you leave here, you won't be the same.
[Verse 2:]
So you tell me you've been to your physician,
look at you there's been no change in your condition.
Reach out and touch the Master's Throne,
there's healing for your mind, your body, and your soul.
[Chorus 1:]
God can heal, He can deliver.
He can mend your brokenness.
He has a miracle to fit your needs,
once you trust Him, you will receive.
[Verse 3:]
God knows about your situation,
but with every test and every trial there is revelation,
that God is able to supply every one of your needs;
He's here to touch you, heal you, He'll set you free.
[Chorus 1]
[Verse 3:]
So by the time that you leave this building,
my prayer for everyone in here is that you'll have your healing.
Once God works a miracle to fit your need,
go tell the world, what you have received.
[Chorus 2:]
God has healed, He has delivered.
He has mended my brokenness.
Gave me a miracle to fit my need;
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, I have received.
[Ending:]
I have received.
[repeat as desired]

GOD'S LOVE
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).
Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies (Psalm 36:5).
How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings (Psalm 36:7).
Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love (Psalm 48:9).
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever (Psalm 52:8).
But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15).
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever (Psalm 136:26).
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends John 15:13).
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love (John 15:9).
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39).

AGAPE LOVE!
There is no greater love than the love that God and Jesus have for you and I. No greater love. Jesus laid down his life and was separated from God for you and I. He went to hell and defeated the devil in open combat and rose with all power in his hand on the 3rd day.
There is nothing, NO THING, going on in your life right now that can compare to what Jesus went through on today and the week before his death. His own apostle and friend sold him out for 30 pieces of silver. He was beaten, flogged, crowned with a head of thorns, whipped, he carried a cross twice his weight, they gave him vinegar to drink when he was thirsty. He hung on the cross for you and I. He could of called for the Angels and they would have come to his aid immediately but he endure the cross for you and I.

How can you not love God?
How can you not bless God?
How can you not praise God?
God's love is agape love, unconditional love! He loves us despite of who we are and how we are and He is willing to forgive us over and over and over again. If you have any unforgiveness in your heart today I encourage you to let it go. The only person who is winning in your life right now is the enemy. When you hold unforgiveness God doesn't even hear your prayers.
Jesus went to calvary to save a wretch like you and me that's LOVE!

CHECK IN TIME!!!!!!!
It has been exactly a week since I last blogged. Last week was interestingly busy, yes that is a good way to say that. Nevertheless it is the 1st day of the 4th month of the New Year. I will start by sharing one of my tweets (@epiphanyessent) from this morning: What are you waiting for? Do it now! This is the day the Lord has made, Today, rejoice and be glad in it. So now I ask where is your New Years Resolution? If you didn't make any resolutions where is your goals/vision/action plan list for 2011? How have you progressed thus far in remaining consistent and working toward whatever you set out to accomplish this year? Consistency is the key to results. One drop of water can do nothing to a solid rock. However, constant, consistent single drops of water will eventually began to erode the rock away and completely destroy it. One drop alone couldn't do it but multiple consistent continuous drops can!
- With that said working out 1 day a month won't get you to your goals of weight loss and weight management.
- Watching more TV, reading on-line blogs and magazines more than you work on your business plan and/or business won't allow you to seize the success you desire.
- Only reprimanding and disciplining your children will not create the long lasting loving relationship you desire to have with them in the future.
