T.E.A.C.H. THURSDAYS (THROUGH EDUCATION ALL CAN HAVE SUCCESS!)

Through Education All Can Have Success ~ College Bound "College Isn't For Everyone"

Some may disagree with this post but here at Epiphany Essentials we know that there isn't one road to success.  We are STRONG PROPONENTS for Education and believe in the importance of educating one's self and having knowledge in whatever area one chooses to pursue.  However, again there isn't one road to success and it is important that we all find our way and encourage our children and others we know to find their way as well!

COLLEGE BOUND

College Isn't For Everyone!

Yes you read that correctly and yes this section is for those considering college with that said we believe in being realistic when it comes to our readers. College isn't for everyone and that is alright. It is possible to be a successful, productive member of society without obtaining a degree from a 4-year college or university.

The 1st step to determining whether college is the right place for yourself or your child is to learn what they are passionate about our enjoy. Yes we understand that there are people in there mid 30's with a college education that still don't know what they want to be when they grow up. However, time, money and effort can be saved by exploring the what I want to be when I grow up without the hefty college/university bill attached to it.

How do you determine whether college is the right place for your child? Start by involving them in different programs and opportunities as early on as you can, this includes sports, music, arts, engineering, sciences, math, volunteer opportunities etc. Why is this important? This is important because your child is able to explore while they are “growing up” and have a better grasp of what it is they truly enjoy.

Of course everyone wants to be rich and wants their child to be the next doctor or lawyer but there is nothing worst then having a job or career that you hate. Unfortunately parents usually are the #1 dream killers their children. Yes, you've envisioned a life for your child but please let them determine what they want to be when they grow up and support it no matter how wacky it may seem to you.

We now live in a society where people are making money off of others being able to post pictures/videos to a site for the world to see eg. Instagram. Where a billion dollar company is in the making because people are posting their random thoughts, again for the world to see, Twitter. So again, please support your children in their dreams no matter how "wacky" they seem.

Why do we say college isn't for everyone?

There are plenty of trades that don't require a college education but do require training:

  • Electricians
  • Auto mechanics
  • Plumbers
  • Painters
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Home/business cleaning services.....

the list goes on and on but this is just to name a few.

There are also plenty of people that started successful companies after they dropped out of college.  Do not be alarmed however, as the weeks progress we will provide information on the college process and how to navigate through it.

So the first thing we encourage you and your children to do is to explore all options available, explore their likes and dislikes, allow them to shadow or volunteer in an industry they believe they are interested in before making that big step to attend college. If they still are unsure save money by allowing your child to attend a junior college to take their general education courses math, science, English just be sure the college is accredited and that the credits are accepted at most major universities. Another option is to explore receive certifications in certain fields.

Peace, Love, Joy, Abundance, Health, Happiness, Success, and Vitality, Namaste!

WORK IT OUT WEDNESDAYS - YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

You Are What You Eat!

The Key to successful weight management is your diet.  Not diet in the sense of avoid these foods, do not eat this or that.  Diet in terms of what you eat.  Take the time right now to consider, what does your diet consist of?  Do you eat a lot of processed foods and meats?  Do you eat a lot of packaged goods?  Where do you spend most of your time when you are in the grocery store, are you on the outer perimeter or do you find yourself inside the aisles?  Do you eat out at restaurants more than you cook at home?

The answers to these questions are important in your quest for health, fitness, wellness, and vitality.  The food pyramid above gives you a great example of what you should consume on a daily basis.  Here at Epiphany Essentials we are not proponents of dairy products nevertheless to each their own.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT....

Size isn't as important as health, vitality, and wellness. Every size 14/16 isn't unhealthy and every size 2/4 isn't healthy.  The goal is to be the ideal weight for yourself and have a body that you love and are comfortable with.  It is important that we love ourselves and are happy in our own skin!

Many of you may have made New Years Resolutions to lose weight and have been hitting the gym hard.  DO NOT FORGET DIET, your weight and body structure is 80% what you put into it (diet) and 20% what you do to it (exercise).  While exercising it is important that your body has the proper fuel to sustain it, again see the pyramid above.

Here at Epiphany Essentials we take a holistic approach to health and wellness.  We want our readers to experience abundance in their mind/soul/spirit, body, finances, business, education, and relationships.

Peace, Love, Joy, Abundance, Health, Happiness, Success, and Vitality, Namaste!

If you have ever thought about starting your own business, if you started a business yet gave up because success didn't come as fast as you hoped, if you currently have a business but it is not successful as you would like it to be.  Over the next few weeks we would like to help you on your journey to success with your business.

These are the steps we believe should be taken however, to each their own, feel free to make adjustments as you see fit for your needs and your life.

Here are the 1st Steps:

  1. Determine what you are great at, what type of business would you like to have? What are you passionate about?  What do you love to do so much that you would do it whether you were paid to or not? (If you find yourself stuck on this step don't be discouraged, stay tuned there are more posts to come that will help you :) )
  2. Determine what your why is, why do you want to start this business?  What is your story behind the thought and creation of your business?
  3. Write a Vision for you Business.  Scripture says to write the vision and make it plain.
  4. Create a Vision Board for your business ( a vision board is a board where you place pictures and words that reflect what it is you would like to see manifested in your life and your future/current business.
  5. Determine how well you deal with uncertainty
  6. Write out an action plans of the things you need/should do in order to get started with your business.  Set goals and goal completion dates.

THE SECRET: IN ACTION

Today is my nephews 18th birthday.  Since his birthday falls after September 1st he is currently a senior in high school.  He will be graduating with honors next June and attending either Duke University or the University of Chicago on full scholarship (positive thinking here) but how did he get to this point?

The bible says 'call those things that be not as though they were'.  The book 'The Secret' talks about the law of attraction and how our thoughts, beliefs, and words attract things into our lives.  We have the power and what we see in our lives is a direct reflection of our thoughts.  "We can have whatever it is we choose. No matter how big or small." Bob Doyle

Those things make me think about my nephew.  Ever since he was 5 years old he has said he wanted to be a doctor when he grew up.  Often times, children say what they want to be but then they change their minds as they get older.  He has not once until this day of his life at 18 changed his mind on what he wanted to be.  So much so that his twitter handle already declares him as a doctor!

Unknowingly, as many of us do, my nephew has attracted this part of his destiny into his life through his words, beliefs, thoughts, and actions.  I want you to truly think about that as I delve further into this.

My nephew was born in the suburbs of Chicago, he lived in a good suburb, the high school he would have went to here would have been pretty good BUT something happened when he was in 7th grade.  His mother decided to move to Charlotte, NC.  Many people in the family were against it but she moved anyway.

My nephew entered school and he felt like he was in a remedial class.  He commented how far behind the children seemed to be.  My nephew is an over achiever, he used to cry if he got a B, not because his parents were hard on him but because he has great expectations for himself.  The school told my sister that they had the ability to choose the high school my nephew attended.  Low and behold Charlotte has a high school specifically for children that want to be doctors or engineers.  The law of attraction is AMAZING!  The power of the spoken word is AMAZING! The notion that 'thoughts become things' is AMAZING!

So yes, my nephew for the past 3 years has attended a high school that let him further explore his declaration that he made 13 years ago of being a doctor.  Not only that his high school competes yearly in a competition with students across the nation interested in becoming doctors and my nephew is the leader of his group.  For the past 2 years his group has made it to the National competition and placed in the top 10.

My nephew, is already a doctor, he is just waiting on the official title but it was done at 5 years old when he decreed it and never wavered from it.

Now, from many occurrences that surrounded his life by way of his mother and father it may not have seemed or appeared that he was on his way to becoming a doctor BUT he was.  His life like most of ours wasn't always necessarily ideal, again by way of his parents and the things that life simply throws at adults BUT, that is the great thing about being a child, they don't experience the stress and worry that many of us adults have.  Children are free to just be and live.  Have you ever seen how well young children sleep at night?  As if they don't have a care in the world.  They don't, they already know their needs will be provided.  Their parents keep them clothed, well fed, etc.  Our creator will and can do the same for us.  We just have to wake up everyday knowing that our needs are met.

This is all to say, the law of attraction, the power of the spoken words, your positive thoughts work if you let them.  They work if you hold to what it is you believe in.  They work if your foundation is rooted properly and you believe that no matter what storm comes your way you are moving closer to your destiny and even if you feel you are taking a step back, every step is leading you to your final destination success, love, and abundance.

The law of attraction is so powerful that my nephews desire to be a doctor caused his entire family to move to the right city, for him to attend the right high school, for him to fulfill his dream of becoming the first doctor in our family!

That is 'The Secret' in action.  So whether we want things in our lives or not we have attracted them by our thoughts, beliefs, words, complaints, etc.  So if you don't want it in your life, don't feed it your energy, don't think it, don't speak it, don't complain about it.  Only focus on what it is you DO want for that is what you will attract.  So whatever you focus on, you shall attract more of.

Finally,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. EVANS!!!!!!! YOU ARE AN AWESOME, GREAT, MAN! YOUR AUNTIE LOVES YOU!!!!!!!1

Should Personal Finance/Financial Literacy Be Taught In Schools?

According to a recent survey or analysis, most American are financially illiterate.  Not surprisingly, only 3 states require high school courses in personal finance.  While we believe parents should teach their children about personal finance there is only so much a parent can teach if their own personal finances are not in order, if they aren't willing to do the research, or if they aren't experts.

Why isn't this something that schools reinforce across the board.  From the time children learn to speak and learn what money is, they begin asking for money or asking for a new toy, video game, book, ice cream etc.  As a parent, this is a perfect opportunity to introduce your children to money, credit, and savings.  Nevertheless, again why wouldn't this be reinforced in all schools?

The information below was found at  http://thefinancialbrand.com/32266/financial-literacy-dollars-and-sense/
