Today is my nephews 18th birthday. Since his birthday falls after September 1st he is currently a senior in high school. He will be graduating with honors next June and attending either Duke University or the University of Chicago on full scholarship (positive thinking here) but how did he get to this point?
The bible says 'call those things that be not as though they were'. The book 'The Secret' talks about the law of attraction and how our thoughts, beliefs, and words attract things into our lives. We have the power and what we see in our lives is a direct reflection of our thoughts. "We can have whatever it is we choose. No matter how big or small." Bob Doyle
Those things make me think about my nephew. Ever since he was 5 years old he has said he wanted to be a doctor when he grew up. Often times, children say what they want to be but then they change their minds as they get older. He has not once until this day of his life at 18 changed his mind on what he wanted to be. So much so that his twitter handle already declares him as a doctor!
Unknowingly, as many of us do, my nephew has attracted this part of his destiny into his life through his words, beliefs, thoughts, and actions. I want you to truly think about that as I delve further into this.
My nephew was born in the suburbs of Chicago, he lived in a good suburb, the high school he would have went to here would have been pretty good BUT something happened when he was in 7th grade. His mother decided to move to Charlotte, NC. Many people in the family were against it but she moved anyway.
My nephew entered school and he felt like he was in a remedial class. He commented how far behind the children seemed to be. My nephew is an over achiever, he used to cry if he got a B, not because his parents were hard on him but because he has great expectations for himself. The school told my sister that they had the ability to choose the high school my nephew attended. Low and behold Charlotte has a high school specifically for children that want to be doctors or engineers. The law of attraction is AMAZING! The power of the spoken word is AMAZING! The notion that 'thoughts become things' is AMAZING!
So yes, my nephew for the past 3 years has attended a high school that let him further explore his declaration that he made 13 years ago of being a doctor. Not only that his high school competes yearly in a competition with students across the nation interested in becoming doctors and my nephew is the leader of his group. For the past 2 years his group has made it to the National competition and placed in the top 10.
My nephew, is already a doctor, he is just waiting on the official title but it was done at 5 years old when he decreed it and never wavered from it.
Now, from many occurrences that surrounded his life by way of his mother and father it may not have seemed or appeared that he was on his way to becoming a doctor BUT he was. His life like most of ours wasn't always necessarily ideal, again by way of his parents and the things that life simply throws at adults BUT, that is the great thing about being a child, they don't experience the stress and worry that many of us adults have. Children are free to just be and live. Have you ever seen how well young children sleep at night? As if they don't have a care in the world. They don't, they already know their needs will be provided. Their parents keep them clothed, well fed, etc. Our creator will and can do the same for us. We just have to wake up everyday knowing that our needs are met.
This is all to say, the law of attraction, the power of the spoken words, your positive thoughts work if you let them. They work if you hold to what it is you believe in. They work if your foundation is rooted properly and you believe that no matter what storm comes your way you are moving closer to your destiny and even if you feel you are taking a step back, every step is leading you to your final destination success, love, and abundance.
The law of attraction is so powerful that my nephews desire to be a doctor caused his entire family to move to the right city, for him to attend the right high school, for him to fulfill his dream of becoming the first doctor in our family!
That is 'The Secret' in action. So whether we want things in our lives or not we have attracted them by our thoughts, beliefs, words, complaints, etc. So if you don't want it in your life, don't feed it your energy, don't think it, don't speak it, don't complain about it. Only focus on what it is you DO want for that is what you will attract. So whatever you focus on, you shall attract more of.
Finally,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. EVANS!!!!!!! YOU ARE AN AWESOME, GREAT, MAN! YOUR AUNTIE LOVES YOU!!!!!!!1

Should Personal Finance/Financial Literacy Be Taught In Schools?
According to a recent survey or analysis, most American are financially illiterate. Not surprisingly, only 3 states require high school courses in personal finance. While we believe parents should teach their children about personal finance there is only so much a parent can teach if their own personal finances are not in order, if they aren't willing to do the research, or if they aren't experts.
Why isn't this something that schools reinforce across the board. From the time children learn to speak and learn what money is, they begin asking for money or asking for a new toy, video game, book, ice cream etc. As a parent, this is a perfect opportunity to introduce your children to money, credit, and savings. Nevertheless, again why wouldn't this be reinforced in all schools?

LifeLogging
Lifelogging is an interesting concept. We understand the purpose of it but is it intrusive? Does it invade privacy? Is it an attempt by "Big Brother" to keep a constant watch of what goes on around the world from different angles?

Twerk, Miley, Miley, Twerk!
Miley Cyrus created quite a buzz with her performance at the Video Music Awards.
Admittedly at first I was absolutely appalled by her performance but then I watched Fashion Police VMA special show and my perspective changed. What one of the host pointed out was Miley's outfits was reminisce of the outfits worn by the women in Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' video. Immediately I had an aha moment, yes, it was except for the clear white plastic covering she was wearing the same outfit as the models in the video. So then I had to ask myself what was the big deal? Her bottom could have been a better fit and more flattering to her figure but other than that we've seen countless performers parade around in one piece leotards and other revealing outfits.
So again, what's the big deal? Oh and to top it all off, a friend of mine saw a version of the 'Blurred Lines' video where the same women in the video are completely naked!!!!!! Considering Miley is young, wants to have fun and the outfit worn was during a performance eg a costume we shouldn't be too shocked or offended right?
Now as for her dance moves and obscene gestures during the performance, that's a different story but all in all why are we so upset about what Miley Cyrus was wearing?
Things that make you go hmmm....

KENDRICK LAMAR "CONTROL"
Kendrick Lamar is causing quite a buzz with his verse on Big Seans "Control". So much buzz that he was the #1 person/thing searched on the Internet today. Why all the buzz? Well Kendrick is from Cali yet he called himself the King of New York after respectfully paying homage to Jay Z and Nas. Kendrick also called a few rappers out as well.
I can say rap/hip-hop has been less about bahz and more about beats/hooks/catchy rhymes so Kendrick's verse is refreshing but is it worth all the hype????
You be the judge.....

I'm Too Old For This
This weekend I had the pleasure of supporting a friend in their new business endeavor as the manager of a black owned sports bar. I chose to attend the festivities on opening night. I put on a casual jumpsuit and some cute heels, yes I know its a sports bar BUT...it was the Grand Opening none the less!
As I walked to the bar, there were a group of kids hanging outside, they commenting on how nice my friend and I looked, then a young lady asked for a hug. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT the touchy feely type on top of the fact I didn't know her, I said NO! Then a young gentleman asked as well, again um....NO! In my mind I was thinking, I'm too old for this!
So the young man proceeds to walk my friend and I to the club. As we're walking he says, "you all aren't lit or high, how are you going to a party?" First of all I needed clarification of what lit meant, I'm too old for this!. Then I immediately went into social worker/save a child/teen intervention mode. The gentleman was 17. My friend asked him was he old enough to get in the bar, he said NO but I can get in if I wanted to.
He then told us that his belt cost $600. You are hanging outside on the street, walking on foot, wearing a $600 Gucci belt????? Sweetie, have you ever been to the Gucci store on Michigan Ave????? I'm going to go with NO but I could be completely wrong. Nevertheless, I am too old for this as I would rather here about your bank account, investments, or how much money you have tucked away under your mattress!!!!!!
Now we enter the club/bar. I ordered a Grey Goose and Cranberry. The bartender proceeds to make Ciroc and cranberry. When questioned she responds I gave you Ciroc because it's cheaper. Again...I'm too old for this!!!! Sweetie, I ordered Grey Goose because I like Grey Goose, I'm not a Ciroc drinker, thank you for considering my pockets but I'm a grown woman, I would like Grey Goose and Cranberry, please and thank you!
After getting my proper beverage, I stood over to the side. A gentleman has just left the dance floor, is all sweaty and walks up to my friend and proceeds to hug her and kiss her on the cheek, well attempt to. She declines. He then walks over to me and attempts to hug and kiss me. Dude, please do not touch me, I don't like to be touched and I don't know you!!!!! He asked my name, I gave him my fake one, Timika, he then tells me his and once again proceeds to try and hug me and kiss me on my cheek. Dude, for the last time do not touch me, I don't know you!!!
Woosah. He then has the audacity to speak to the people standing next to me and I believe he called me and my girl a B*tch, mentioning he was just trying to be friendly.
Nothing personal but, I don't like to be touched by people I know, I don't know you, you're sweaty and DUDE go that away.
Again, I am too old for this. I then told my girl its time to take our talents to Rush Street or somewhere more appropriate with a grown and sexy style!

Lil Wayne Dropped by Pepsi...
PepsiCo has decided to drop Lil Wayne from his endorsement deal due to a controversial lyric in the rap song, Karate Chop, "Pop a lot of pain pills Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels Beat that pussy up like Emmett Till Yeah...."
Before I continue, I must say I do not agree with Lil Wayne referencing Emmit Till in this manner, I 100% disagree. I also disagree with PepsiCo dropping Lil Wayne over the lyrics.
I disagree because I don't feel the sincerity in the decision, I don't see the true concern and care. Whom is PepsiCo trying to appease? Whom are the bowing down to the pressure of? Its ok for Lil Wayne to talk about popping pain pills BUT stop the press he referenced Emmit Till. Lil Wayne has a song Novacane where he raps about cocaine, his love for it, how he misses it and will do it again. Lil Wayne has been hospitalized for seizures due to drug complications. None of that signal a red flag before or after giving him an endorsement deal. I'm sorry, I'm just not convinced PepsiCo cares about the Emmit Till reference. They are more concerned with their bottom line profits, as they should be, I guess!
How many people truly care or know about Emmit Till and what happened to him? Yes he was brutally murdered unjustly in a time where if a black man so much as looked at a white woman he could be lynched.
What about the children who are popping pills, addicted to drugs, loving guns, and violence because of Lil Wayne's lyrics. We are quick to uphold the legacy and memory of the dead, I believe it is time to focus on the living.
It is acceptable for the majority of the current rap culture to rap about degrading women, raping women, popping pills, getting drunk, high off illegal drugs, and abusing pain medicine....when they do these things they receive endorsements.
Where is the accountability on the part of the artist, the record label, DJs, radio stations and the Federal Communications Commission?
This in and of itself as I type about it is a catch 22. As artist are known for pushing the envelope and sparking change/revolution. We also have freedom of speech here in the United States, so I'm not supporting censorship. What I am a proponent for is accountability.
Someone listened to and approved the song Karate Chop, it was released and was played on the airwaves, it was a top 40 song. So, with all issues everything needs to be addressed at the root. Even if the artist writes and records the lyrics must the record label release it?

THINK, FACT CHECK, USE YOUR BRAIN!
On Tuesday, April 23rd @AP sent a tweet that said bombs or something of the extent went off at the White House, immediately....hear me as I type this IMMEDIATELY the stock market went down.
Shortly thereafter, @AP sent out another tweet saying their account had been hacked and the tweet was untrue.
How? Why? What? would possess people to sell their stocks based on a tweet? Most people that trade stocks have some sort of intelligence and ability for independent thought, as they are choosing stocks and trading on the market. Better yet, they are alive and well daily making decisions that require the use of their brains.
Now the tweet could have very well been true or it may be false BUT did anyone take the time to think for themselves? Fact check, check other sources? Simply use their brain to be logical and not emotional?
Are we that obsessed with social media and information that someone could send a tweet that could alter life as we know it? This is mind boggling to us but what are your thoughts?

EDUCATION VS. IMPRISONMENT
As of late I've read
different posts and opinions, on Twitter and FaceBook, on the fact that our government spends more
money to imprison than educate. Now that we are aware of this injustice, what do we do now?
Prisoner = slave,
slave = free labor. Prisons are for profit institutions, they guarantee
investors 80% occupancy....GUARANTEE! Now we must ask ourselves how is
this possible? One of the greatest determining factors for the prison
population is 3rd grade reading scores. There is a strong chance if
your child is not a great reader by the 3rd grade they may end up in
jail. Now, a large percentage of the prison population are from single
parent households, over 70%. There are many who believe the single
mother is the cause of the prison population. The thing is
70% of the prison population are from single parents. Now if you told
me 70% of children born to single parents were imprisoned then I could
agree.
Many people in prison
have children, this leaves their children to be raised by a single
parent, guardian, extended family member or they could be in a foster
home or orphanage. This automatically puts many of those children at a
disadvantage and the cycle unfortunately continues.
However, back to the question, how does a prison guarantee its investors 80% occupancy??? If anyone has the answer to this question I would love to know.
All problems should be
attacked and addressed at the root. Before we jump to
injustice with college education let's start at the root of the issue
with primary education. Let's discuss reduced funding for head start
programs, let's discuss some school districts charging for pre-K, let's
discuss the fact that kindergarten is not mandatory, let's discuss the
fact that you've never taken the time to read to your children, let's
discuss the fact that they watch countless hours of senseless television
programming that brainwashes and influences them negatively!
Let's be real, if your child
received a sub par primary education their chances of success in college
are slim. So, again we have to start from day 1 at birth, you can read
to your child while they are in the womb. You can also explore your options as a parent, your child doesn't have to attend the school in their neighborhood. At least not in Chicago. Visit your child's school, volunteer, if you can. Develop a relationship with their teacher and have open dialogue.
Realistically, I understand that all parents are not involved or have to work to provide that they cannot be involved as they would like to be. That is where the old adage 'it takes a village to raise a child'. How can we as a community collectively help each other out with our children etc.?
Be concerned with injustice but understand true
revolutionaries die, are falsely imprisoned, they're defamed, their
names are dragged through the mud. If you are about that life and ready
for the fate that Malcolm, Martin, Tupac, Assata, Mumia, Mutulu, Pratt,
Hampton, Newton, etc. had to face then rise up, revolt, do something! A
petition isn't going to change anything, a march isn't going to change
anything, mobilization will change things.
It starts with
ECONOMIC empowerment. It starts with knowing what you start, you might
not be able to finish just hope that someone else picks up where you
left off and keeps it going until change truly comes. It starts with being ready to die and/or go to jail.

TEMPTATION: CAN YOU SPOT A HARLEY?
If you plan on seeing Tyler Perry's new film 'Temptation' DO NOT READ THIS POST until AFTER seeing the movie!
While watching
Temptation, the 1st conversation between Harley and Judith had my danger
signals blaring, they were saying he's dangerous, don't trust him, he
will lay hands on you! Did yours? There was one point where Judith
asked Harley a question and part of his answer was the fact he could get
crazy. Few people say they get crazy, and those that do say such
things usually mean CRAZY for real, real, CRAZY all capital CRAZY CRAY
CRAY!!!!!
While Judith was
obviously intrigued from her and Harley's 1st meeting and
conversation, the private jet scene where Harley begins kissing Judith
and she is saying stop but he doesn't, while a turn-on for Judith, it
COMPLETELY turned me off. Once again my danger signals began going
off. However, I could totally see a woman like Judith and many other
falling for the Harley type. Especially since her life seems mundane
and predictable. When she tried to spice it up a bit, her husband was
taken a back and unprepared to just go with the flow. This increased
her curiosity for something "new and exciting". At any point in time
Judith could have spoken with her husband about her need for some
spontaneity and excitement BUT like most people she harbored her
feelings and allowed them to lead her to a path of self sabotage and
destruction with defeated thoughts.
Before I go any further, there
are great men out there, I love black men, I am the daughter of, mother
to, and woman of a black man.....
Harley was 100%
positively the too good to be true type. When I was younger my mom said
something that I completely understand now and is so fitting for the
movie. If a man has so many positive attributes and things going on for
himself and he is single, no woman is trying to claim him, stalking him
etc. There is something wrong with him. Harley was a man that
possessed everything he could possibly imagine yet he had no love in
his life.
I couldn't understand
why Judith didn't pick up on the warning signs. Especially since she
knew his love profile, topped with the fact she was a marriage counselor
yet, her emotions and thoughts that she was missing out on something
led her to make bad choices. She was open, vulnerable, and gullible
leaving the door wide open for Harley to come in. In their
conversations about his love life, Harley always took on the victim role
and made his ex out to be the "bad guy". My thought was what woman in
her right mind wouldn't want to ride around in Rolls Royce's, live
lavishly, fly on private jets etc. Not putting a price on love BUT
something made his wife decide to marry him and something also drove her
to leave all of that fabulousness behind. Not putting 100%
responsibility on the husband as it takes 2 to make a thing go right or
wrong BUT his over emphasis on his wife being unappreciative
was just a bit much.
I won't give the whole
movie away but I can say when it ended the 1st thing that came to mind
was "Don't go chasing waterfalls please stick to the rivers and the
lakes that you're used to!"
The grass will always
look greener on the other side BUT that lawn has to be maintained like
any other one. Just because its green now doesn't mean it will stay
that way. Relationships take work and should be built on a foundation
of love, trust, respect, commitment, friendship, and communication.
How many women would have fallen for Harley, married or single?

UBUNTU: COLLECTIVISM VS. COMPETITION
'UBUNTU' in the Xhosa culture means: "I am because we are"
An anthropologist proposed a game to the kids in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that who ever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: ''UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?''
'UBUNTU' in the Xhosa culture means: "I am because we are"(VIA Ramomart.com FaceBook)
This moved me so and also made me think. Now I agree that the Most High blesses those that have their own BUT we are blessed to be a blessing.
I must say had this happened in America, the end result would have not been the same. Are we teaching our children the importance of all for one and one for all? Are we embodying this ideal ourselves? After all we live in a society where the wealthiest 1% employ 99% of the people. We live in a society where competition is encouraged. We live in a society where the haves look down on the "have" nots BUT...what if the haves shared with the have nots? What if people realized when enough was enough and it was time to give and share?
This message speaks to me as well as I have clothing in my closet that still has the tags on it yet I want more, sometimes I feel that I don't have enough because I'm comparing myself to others and what society says success and wealth should be.
I'm sure I would have been a kid racing to get the fruit first and had I not been first I would have been upset. Then my thoughts go to the winner. How comfortable could the winner be?
Would they feel comfortable sitting and eating their fruit while the others went hungry? Would they share their fruit with the others or feel its theirs only because they won fair and square? Would those without fruit try to take/steal the fruit from the winner? Would the others be jealous and envious of the winner? After eating the fruit would the others still be friends with the winner?
These are questions that are true for our society. There are many have nots that have to steal or feel they have to steal in order to feed their families. While there are families that throw away left overs regularly if not daily. Many of us think, I'm not a hundred thousandnaire let alone a millionaire I have nothing to give. This is so far from the truth. Many of those that are blessed must first recognize their blessings.
If you woke up this morning, in a home, with running water, gas, heat, electricity, food in the pantry and refrigerator, YOU ARE BLESSED. Not only are you blessed, you can be a blessing to someone else.
UBUNTU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be a blessing and be blessed! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Health! Ubuntu!

HAS THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN KILLED "TRADITIONAL" MARRIAGE
For all intents and purposes I guess it would be wise to define traditional marriage. In the true sense of "tradition", a traditional marriage is one where the husband works outside the home and the wife works inside the home and tends to the children. The husband is the bread winner, bringing home the bacon and the wife is the one frying it up in a pan. Think the Cleavers on Leave it to Beaver, The Evans family on Good Times, The Jeffersons ( well Weezy did have a maid...go ahead Weezy!!!!), The Winslows on Family Matters, even The Huxtables had what I would consider a traditional marriage. More importantly, as well in this definition, is a home where the husband is the head, the leader, the key/final decision maker. He takes into consideration the thoughts, feelings, and ideals of his wife but the husband has the final say, the right to put his foot down and that be that. All done in respect, love, decency and order.
Has the independent woman killed the "traditional" marriage? This question arises from an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA), yes, reality TV!!!!! Porsha is married to ex NFL baller Kordell. Kordell is well off and Porsha is a stay at home wife. The women went on vacation to Vegas which included going to a strip club. Porsha expressed that she didn't want to go to a strip club because her husband would not approve, she also stated that she was happy her husband LET her attend the trip. These comments appeared to rub all the other women on the show the wrong way. They began discussing the fact that Kordell was controlling and he that holds the purse strings usually controls or dictates the flow of the relationship.
Being a young woman who grew up in a 2 parent HH, both sets of my grandparents were married I completely disagreed. I understand the respect factor in all relationships. There are things that a husband shouldn't do if he knows his wife won't approve and the same goes for the wife. It doesn't matter who controls the purse strings. I do also understand that there are controlling men out there, however, I still don't believe its the case with Porsha and Kordell.
Nene, Phaedra, Cynthia, Kenya, and Kandi are all independent self-made women. I applaud them and admire them for that. I'm less traditional in the sense that I believe its acceptable for a woman to work outside of the home. However, if a man told me I could stay at home and he would take care of everything, I would absolutely jump at the chance and be happy. There are instances in their, Nene, Phaedra, Cynthia, Kenya, and Kandi, relationships however where I feel that most of these women don't let the man be a man. Not judging their relationships because to each its own.
With that said, what works for one relationship and one person doesn't necessarily work for another. That is why it is important to shy away from giving relationship advice to others. Its a sticky situation that can lead to many problems. I rarely give relationship advice or impose my own opinion. I am all for general advice, sharing stories from my personal life or the life of others to help give someone extra insight. Unless there is extreme physical abuse NEVER would I tell a woman or man to leave their marriage or relationship.
But back to the topic at hand, the other ladies told Porsha her husband was controlling, that this was no longer the olden days. I remember Porsha saying Kordell was the King of his home. Nene personally thought that was a crock. Why isn't the man the King? My daddy was the King of our home and I was the princess. Do you believe that type of thinking should be left in the olden days? Is your man the King of his castle? Are you the queen? Are you traditional?
My man is my king and I am his queen. Whether rich or poor I believe that a man should feel like a man. Cook for him, fix his plate, take his plate away, motivate him, support him, help him with his dreams. Respect and honor him Now with that said he should be doing many of the same things for you. RECIPROCITY!!!!!
He may not be able to cook but maybe one night he decides to do the dishes, or tell you, you don't have to cook he's taking you out to dinner. For me the man should take out the garbage, mow the lawn, trim the hedges, change tires, etc. manly things but again that's me and my relationship. Each and every relationship is different and the only opinions that matter are those that are in the relationship.
Somewhere during the women's movement, women forgot in their quest to be equals that they are not men. Yes we can go out and make money, we can even bring home the entire pig BUT the man should feel like the man at all times. The man should feel his opinion matters, that he is the head, and his thoughts and feelings are taken into consideration. I believe that's where the independent woman goes wrong. More than likely the man knows that you are independent. That is what attracted him to you but still be a lady, the woman and let him be the man. It's great to have an opinion just don't beat the man over the head with it. As the old saying goes, you catch more flies with honey. Use your femininity to your advantage.
There is a huge population of women that say, I have a good job, my own home, a car, money in the bank, good credit, BUT I don't have a man. It may be because you are too busy behaving like a man, trying to prove your "manhood" when men do come along and they want a lady, a woman! Again, your independence attracted him to you BUT BE A LADY AT ALL TIMES. Men, real men, like fixing things, they want you to need them to carry that heavy box, change your tire, look under your car hood, open that jar, paint that room....I think you get my drift. Even if they complain, they enjoy doing it, men like to feel needed and wanted. As a man told me, men take care of what they love (financially, physically etc.) whatever it may be if it is in their power to do so men take care of what they love. So while you are well able to take care of yourself, LET THAT MAN BE A MAN!
Has the Independent Woman Killed "Traditional" Marriage? Did you see the episode of RHOA I'm referring to? Do you agree with Porsha or the other ladies?
Be a blessing and be blessed! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Abundance! Health! Wisdom! Knowledge! Understanding!

TRUST YOURSELF!!!!!!
This blog was inspired by my big sister...Trust Yourself!
About 4 years ago my sister made a major decision to move to another state. Away from her support system, mother, grandmother, aunts/uncles, cousins, sisters and friends. A state at least a 10 hour drive away BUT she did it. One of our cousins offered her a job, agreed to pay her moving fees, and security deposit. My sister had spoken of moving to a warmer climate due to the health concerns of her youngest son so she jumped at the opportunity. What she didn't know was her decision was all apart of the Most High's plan for her and her children.
When first considering the idea of moving she discussed her plans with myself, her mom and others in the family. They completely discouraged her decision about moving, told her not to do it, and that it wasn't a good idea...... Trust Yourself.
Nevertheless, my sister made the move. A couple of months after moving she quit her job working for our cousin and found herself unemployed. Her middle son was in a school he absolutely hated and he was far more advanced than his peers. At the time he was in 8th grade and had to attend the school by there home BUT my sister learned that they could chose the high school he attended. Since he was 5 years old, he said that he wanted to be a doctor. Low and behold, his high school of choice, a school for students that desire to be doctors and Engineers, he applied, was accepted, and is on his way to fulfilling his dream.....Trust Yourself.
See, my sister could've decided her new home state wasn't working out because the job she left Chicago for was no more, my nephews school was less than ideal, and her oldest son didn't make the move, choosing to stay in Chicago....she could've looked at the situation as if she'd made the wrong decision and run back home BUT she stayed....Trust Yourself!
Fast forward over 3 years later, this summer my nephew has been invited to attend John Hopkins University program for high school students, he will be entering his senior year in the fall. His college choices Duke or Johns Hopkins. Her youngest son now wants to follow in his big brothers foot steps and her oldest son is a student at a University in Illinois....Trust Yourself!
I wonder, what if my sister didn't move? What if she listened to her mom and others and didn't take the leap? I think about the saying that your blessing is on the other side of your fear. Fear was telling my sister to stay, faith said move. Not to mention she can be a little head strong and stubborn, once making a decision she sticks with it BUT life has been pretty good to her thus far....Trust Yourself!
It's great to consider the counsel of friends, family, religious leaders BUT it is best to Trust Yourself...You have intuition for a reason, you get that gut feeling for a reason. As the saying goes, always go with your first mind. Think about the times you didn't go with your first mind, you didn't trust yourself....things didn't turn out right did they?
Most times when we seek the advice of others they impose their fears and beliefs on our lives BUT the good book says be it on to you according to your FAITH. We cannot get by on anyone's faith but our own....Trust Yourself!
I'm glad my sister trusted her self and I enjoy watching the destiny of her and her children unfold.
Let my sisters story be an inspiration to you. Yes you can move to another city, state, country with little to no support from others and make it, survive, and thrive. As long as you take your faith and the Most High with you all things are possible for you....Trust Yourself!
Don't accept and feed into others fears, concerns or doubts...Trust Yourself, Trust Your Gut, Trust Your Intuition, Trust that the Most High is guiding you to your destiny, to your greatness!!
Be a blessing and be blessed! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Faith! Abundance! Greatness! Health! Trust! Intuition! Believe!

WANT VS. HAVE
The other day, we had an Epiphany! In keeping with The Secret and speaking, thinking, and visualizing the life we want. We wondered, what if we stopped wanting and started having? What do we mean by this?
Think about it, how often do you walk around speaking of the things you want? How often do you get the things that you want? How long does it take to get them?
What if you changed your thoughts and your words and starting speaking that you had what it is you want already.
Example....
Are you starting to see where we are going with this? I hope so. The Secret is simply speaking only that which you want. Not what you don't want but what you want to see manifest in your life and then speaking as if you already have it, you already are it! Yes, its that simple.
So what is that you want? Act as if you have it already. Print out pictures, create a vision board meditate on it day and night as if it is so!
Try it, we challenge you, we challenge ourselves. We want to live life on purpose and create our future in the NOW, that is what FAITH is right? :-)
Be blessed and be a blessing! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Health! Prosperity! Abundance!

YOU CAN THINK THAT WAY, OTHER'S DON'T!
Your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings are your own. Just because you believe, think and feel a certain way doesn't mean you have to impose those views on others. If you impose your views on others and they don't accept them, that is quite alright as well. Just because people believe, think, and feel contrary to each other doesn't make either more right or more wrong, if right or wrong at all.
For example, some believe that if you go outside in the winter with a wet head you will catch a cold. Sure enough those people if they do so, catch colds. Those people will say see I knew it. Yes, that is what you thought and believed and that is what happened to YOU!
I personally do not believe that therefore this entire winter I've washed my hair and went out in the dead of winter with a wet head of hair and I didn't catch a cold not once!
TRUTH is RELATIVE to each individual. I like in the Bible where it says according to YOUR FAITH/BELIEF be it on to you. You cannot get by on someone else faith or beliefs, only your own. To truly walk in faith/believe you have to think, act, walk, and talk in whatever you have faith or are believing in. That's why someone else faith/beliefs won't work for you.
You can say you have faith/believe the mountain will move BUT if you find yourself worrying about that mountain, you aren't in faith!
Some believe in order to make a lot of money you have to work hard. Others believe all you have to do is work smart. Others believe you can have someone else do the work and just reap the benefits. Neither is right, neither is wrong. Each will say they're right because it worked for them which is true but it was because of their thoughts and beliefs.
This is why it is sometimes, often times, dare I say most times pointless to argue with other people. I'm all for friendly debates, I open to learning new things and considering the perspective of others but arguing, for what. Each person usually walks away with the feeling they are right and justified and the other person is wrong and an idiot.
This is also why people are inspired and moved by church sermons, motivational speeches, and inspirational books yet once back in their own environment all is almost lost. Why? Because their core beliefs and thoughts have not changed. They heard something awesome, moving, potentially life changing BUT the true application of how to enact that word wasn't realized.
I've posted this before but I will say again, I read an awesome book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and I am currently taking my time reading The Secret. These 2 books were powerful and instrumental in my growing exponentially in 2013 and its only March 4th.
Remember, your thoughts create your reality. Whatever you think about you manifest into your own life. Just because things have been true or came true for you doesn't mean it will be the same for others.
Be a blessing and be blessed! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Abundance! Health! Wealth! Prosperity! Life!

THE SECRET: THOUGHTS & THE TONGUE
I am reading a book that has changed my life as it contains information and says it in such a way that makes you think, reflect, and accept the quality/state of your life, while desiring change through action!
Now, I spoke of this book to someone who is of the Christian faith and deep into church. He said he read the book but didn't like it because God was not in it. I was amazed as God was all in the book. First and foremost everyone doesn't accept the term GOD, GOD is a man made word. Some people say the Universe, Creator, Most High, Allah, etc. So this book appealing to all over the entire world does not specifically use the word God but there is nothing in it that goes against my personal spiritual beliefs.
While I believe in the power of God and many things in the bible, I have to remind myself that it was written by man and text such as the Book of the Dead and the Medu (hieroglyphics) precede the Bible itself.
With that said, here are things from the Bible that coincide with The Secret :-)
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. James 1:26
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. Matthew 12:34
So, you may be thinking if it coincides with the Bible, why not just read the Bible. I will tell you why because I guarantee your Pastor and even yourself have read other spiritual or religious text. Even going to church on Sunday the Pastor relays the Word in a manner in which the congregation will understand.
Here are some passages from The Secret that made me go hmmm......
"The Secret is the law of attraction!
Everything that is coming in your life you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted to you by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you."
After I read that I had to stop, put the book down and truly reflect, immediately.
"See things that you want as already yours. Know that they will come to you at need. Then let them come. Don't fret and worry about them. Don't think about your lack of them. Think of them as yours, as belonging to you, as already in your possession." Robert Collier
So try it, even the Bible says this as well; ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE! The Bible says to believe that you receive when you ask and it shall be yours.
So yes, you have not because you ASK not, you have not because you BELIEVE not, you have not RECEIVED because you have yet to ASK & BELIEVE!!!!!'
I encourage anyone reading this to purchase The Secret, either the book or the movie, also visit www.thesecret.tv for more information.
Be a blessing and be blessed! Namaste! Peace! Love! Joy! Favor! Abundance! Prosperity! Health! Wealth

"B"HM FINALE: WE ARE NOT BLACK, AFRICAN, OR AFRICAN AMERICAN
You may think I am going to provide a lot of research and information here, NOPE!!!! You if you are reading this an interested in what I mean, you must began to search, find, and seek knowledge to know self and understand your ancestry and then begin to honor your ancestors!
All life, all people originated from the continent now called "Africa", Merita. The knowledge center of Merita was "Egypt", Kemet. So if EVERYONE on the planet earth traces their ancestry they shall find their origins in Merita!
Black was a label given to our ancestors because of their skin color. Africa was a name given to the continent due to its conqueror.
People of color are "melanin rich", melanin which we all know is what makes are skin the beautiful varying hues of brown that it is.
The first written language Medu Neteru you know this as "hieroglyphics". Yes, history was written, it was written in stone. Papyrus was created in Kemet then came paper and books. As the saying goes there is nothing new under the sun, this saying is so true, and knowledge, math, science, and many of "modern" technology, if not most or dare I say all comes from Kemet and Merita.
Its time we know our history and go further than the continental US!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: ORIGINS OF THE OSCAR STATUE
This was posted on Ramomart.com's FaceBook page and I wanted to share!
Have you wondered what's the whole yearly ritual with the Oscar Awards, Golds Statues and movie stars? Well it may go back way further than you think, way back to Africa in Ancient Egypt. In Egypt there were two major Gods one in charge of Picture making and craftsmen and the other with the Stars and the Afterlife. One of these Gods was called Ptah lord of PICTURE MAKING, CRAFTSMEN AND ARTIST. In the modern world where do you find ARTIST, CRAFTSMEN and MOTION PICTURES being made? In Hollywood of course, so the Oscar statues are modeled from the God Ptah.
The ancient scribes and sculptors who created the best sculptures and pictures for the temples after their work was completed they would be granted a statue of the God Ptah from the Pharaoh himself. This ritual would take place at the capital at MnNfr/Memphis in the HutKaPth/Temple of Ptah.
This ritual is still performed today where an actor wins a statue like the God Ptah for the BEST PICTURE.
The term Oscar also dates to an Egyptian God Asar/Osiris who ruled over the underworld in the constellation Sah today called Orion
* *°.˛*.˛.°★。˛°.★** *★* * .
According to the pyramid text the oldest religious text ever written by man the Pharaohs soul would ascend to Sah/Orion to be reborn as a ★STAR★ to live for eternity. The only catch was according to the pyramid text is that Pharaoh's Ba/soul would have to transform into a AKH/spirit to travel and reach Asar in Orion, similar to how today you have to become a ACTOR to win a Oscar. Today scientist at NASA have discovered that Orion indeed has a Star Nebula where stars are born. How did the ancients know this before modern technology? It's not by chance that the Egyptian term Sah sounds like the modern word Star. In today's world Pharaohs are no longer attempting to transform their souls into Stars in the kingdom of Asar but actors are with their Oscar's.
Modern stars are found in Hollywood where their goal is to receive the most prestigious Oscar Award and then become superstars. Check the New Yorker Cover >>http://www.newyorker.com/fiction/features/2011/02/28/110228fi_fiction_sayrafiezadeh
A small note to add the brother of the star God Asar was called SeT lord of illusions, Chaos and materialism, and in Hollywood when they are creating a dream world or an illusion its referred to as a movie Set. So after leaving the movie SeT as a Akh or actor they hope to meet Asar or Oscar after playing the role of the Hero or Horus like the Pharaohs of old. The God of picture making Ptah and the God of Stars Asar when combined you get the Oscars. Ancient myths and rituals are still being performed in a modern form.
The question now becomes despite todays religions what brotherhood has kept the ancient Gods relevant in this modern world? More to come in Raturn of the Gods: Rise of the ShemsuHor
By the way this is the last month to see Orion/Sah is the night sky's till fall Happy Oscar's Star Gazing* *°.˛*.˛.°★。˛°.★** *★* * (Ramomart.com also on FaceBook)

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: FELA KUTI
Last Saturday, I went to see the stage play FELA at the Arie Crown theater. I had no idea what to expect or no knowledge of who Fela Kuti was before seeing this electrifying, engaging, politically conscious play!
You can read the lyrics to International Thief here: http://www.lyricsmania.com/itt_international_thief_thief_lyrics_fela_kuti.html
From the play, I learned this man Fela attempted to wake up those in his nation, Nigeria, through music and lyrics. Due to his activism he was a target of government and the powers that be who did not want any changes to the status quo of how Nigeria was/is.
His song Zombie made me think about many of us around the world. Fela said a Zombie walks, talks, moves, and thinks the way it is told/programmed too. Now one may be reading this saying to themselves, I'm not a Zombie. So let me as this, how often do you believe what you hear or see on the radio, TV, or even in history books? How often do you simply believe without researching or choosing to not believe?
You can read the lyrics to International Thief here: http://www.lyricsmania.com/itt_international_thief_thief_lyrics_fela_kuti.html
The production of the play was awesome, the message behind the play intrigued me to want to learn more about Fela Kuti and the struggles of Nigeria. If you did not attend the play this year in Chicago or wherever you may be WHEN it returns I encourage you to attend. I believe any child over the age of 14 will appreciate the knowledge. As it applies to the US government and even my city of Chicago. It seems those that speak out against government are black balled, killed, made out to be criminals, harrassed, etc.

He also has an autobiography Fela: The Bitch of a Life by Carlos Moore
