Wellness Wednesdays - The Diet of all DIETS!!!!!

You don't have to eat LESS you just have to eat RIGHT!  We wonder how many reading this have tried every diet they can think of Atkins, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, etc. and feel like nothing ever works?  Part of the issue with many of those diets is they want you to "eat less".

Let's take Slim Fast for example.  You're supposed to drink a shake for breakfast and lunch and then eat a well balanced dinner.  Who wants to drink their breakfast and lunch for the rest of their lives?  No one right? Which is probably why the diet wasn't very effective or didn't have long lasting results.

So, I'm sure you're wondering, what is the diet to end all diets?

There is no substitution for eating right, NONE!  Instead of focusing on dieting or losing weight, focus on changing your life style.  Start slowly and work your way into a system or plan that works for you and feel free to eat whatever you want.  Personally "diets" have never been for me, if I want the cookie, cake, brownie etc. I'm going to eat it and not feel bad about it.

So what do we mean by eating right? Consume fresh fruits and vegetables (everyday).  See food differently.  I hear many people say they don't eat breakfast or aren't a breakfast person.  Breakfast can be a bowl of fruit, a fruit smoothie, a green salad.  It doesn't have to be meat, eggs, grits, biscuits, and pancakes (although there is nothing wrong with that every once and awhile!!!).

Eat lean meats, bake, grill, roast your meats instead of frying them all the time.  Limit meat consumption some days, there are other great sources of protein like broccoli!  If you don't like broccoli research options that will be great for you.

Avoid dairy if you can, we here at Epiphany Essentials are anti-milk however we understand that butter and other items contain dairy.

Most importantly learn what food is, if it comes in a package and is considered a consumer packaged good, it probably isn't real nor should it be called food.

Again, start slowly, take your time, find something that works for you and your family and watch the weight start falling off.  Weight loss is 80% what you eat and 20% what you do, however, get out there and exercise your body needs and wants that too.  And oh, how could we forget, drink plenty of water!
