PORTION CONTROL - TIPS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT DIETING!

Greetings Epiphany Essentials readers,

Yesterday I was able to watch the Doctors and they had 52 ways to lose weight. Admittedly I will not be sharing all 52 but some highlights from the show.

A representative from Prevention magazine was a guest host and she spoke about the 1600 calorie eating plan. For more details visit www.prevention.com highlights are below:

  1. You do not have to change your diet, while making some changes would be ideal it is all about portion control.
  2. Eat 4 400 calorie meals per day
  3. Yes you can still eat Chinese food, Italian food, etc. it is all about portion control
  4. So when you go to the restaurant throw out the rule your mom taught you of eating everything on your plate!

Other helpful tips:

  1. Beware when at the movies, a medium popcorn and soda (without you adding butter and salt) is the equivalent of eating 4 quarter pound burgers!
  2. So ladies share with your date on movie night as your waist will definitely thank you later!
  3. Go bun less sometimes. Every time you get a burger out you don't have to eat the bun...
  4. Eat dairy, drink milk. It is filled with protein and will help fill you up in between meals and aid in slimming your waist line
  5. Stand more during the day, it burns more calories than sitting
  6. If possible take the stairs, its not always necessary to take the escalator or elevator
  7. Park farther from the door when shopping or out etc.
  8. Cook more at home, brown bag it, and eat out less...This will save you $$$ and help you maintain/lose weight
  9. Use smaller plates when eating
  10. Eat with the lights dimmed, bright lights increase your anxiety and make you eat more
  11. Do jumping jacks, run in place, laugh, squats, sit-ups/crunches, stretch
  12. Get moving and be active
  13. Watch less TV and don't snack when watching television

These are just some small tips that you can implement right now. You don't have to go out and buy any products or equipment!

I see a healthier fitter you in 2010. Your goals are in reach, you can achieve weight loss and a healthier you by managing portions and changing the way you think about food. Of course if you want some cookies or chocolate cake by all means indulge just watch your portions.

Again visit www.prevention.com as well as www.thedoctorstv.com for more helpful tips to help you achieve your fitness and weight loss goals. FAITH FRIDAYS - OPEN UP MY HEART

Open Up My Heart

Yolanda Adams

O-o-o-o-o-oh Talk to me
Alone in a room, It's just me and you.I feel so lost, cause I don't know what to do. Now what if I choose, The wrong thing to do.I'm so afraid, afraid of disappointing you.

So I need to talk to you, and ask you for your guidance. Especially today, when my world is so cloudy.

Guide me until I'm sure, I'll open up my heart.

My hopes and dreams, Are fading fast. I'm all burned out, And I don't think my strength is gonna last. So I'm crying out, crying out to you ooooohhhhhLord I know that you're the only one, who is able to pull methrough.

Oh yeah show me how, to do things your way, don't wanna makethesame mistakes, over and over again. Your will be done, and I'll be the one.

To be sure that it's carried out and in me I don't want anydoubt

That's why I wanna talk to you yes I do, and ask you for yourguidance.

Especially this day, when my life is so cloudy, Lord guideme until I'm sure, I open up my heart.

DIETERS BEWARE - DANGERS

Diet Dangers - From Today's RedEye

Dieters can't believe everything they read: The food at many popular chain restaurants and in the freezer section of the supermarket may contain a lot more calories than advertised.

A study of 10 chain restaurants, including Wendy's and Ruby Tuesday, found the number of calories in 29 meals or other menu items was an average of 18 percent higher than listed.

And frozen supermarket meals from Lean Cuisine, Weight Watchers, Healthy Choice and South Beach Living had 8 percent more calories than the labels said, according to the study, published in this month's Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

The researchers and other experts aren't accusing restaurants and food companies of trying to deceive customers. They said most of the discrepancies can be explained by variations in ingredients, portion sizes and testing methods. For example, the teenager behind the counter might have put too much mayonnaise on one sandwich.
