Financial Freedom Fridays - Wealthy People Love the "F" Word!

FaceBook has become my guilty pleasure.  I woke up 2 Sundays ago to an interesting article, a Mexican gentleman moved to Chicago, started selling corn on a corn cart and has been able to send his children to medical and law school.  The man came to America in 1997.

How is it someone can come to America, be here for a short period of time and have the ability to create wealth and change the future of their families and children?  The "F" word - FRUGAL.  Many who come to America see opportunity and they have a mission, purpose, and plan and they have their MINDSET on their plan.

They don't get wrapped up in the money, cars, and clothes the way Americans do.  They aren't concerned with wearing the latest fashions, driving the most expensive car, and living in the biggest home.  Their focus is a way out of poverty, providing for their families, providing for their children, generating wealth and pulverizing poverty.

Financial Freedom Friday's - Family Money Lessons - Sacrifice

This Thanksgiving my aunt and uncle (42 years of marriage) and my cousins (28 years of marriage) were speaking about sacrifice and financial turning points.

My uncle mentioned when he and his wife first married, they didn't have a television set.  A friend of their's had 2 television sets, so he told his wife to ask if they could borrow one for 1 week.  The friend said NO, then on my uncle knew he had to do for his wife.  My uncle spoke of working a job and choosing to walk to work instead of take the bus and save his bus fair and in 1 year with other savings he bought his first a car, a deuce and a quarter!

Nowadays it seems many don't understand sacrifice or even delayed gratification.  We live in a right now, microwave society.  We live in a society built on excuses as reasons why we can't or choose not to sacrifice.

Financial literacy should start in the home, however, many see their parents consume, consume, consume and others see their parents as frugal and assume that means broke/poor.

Making financial sacrifices in your 20s and 30s helps to ensure you will live comfortably in your 40s, 50s and beyond.

What are you willing to sacrifice now to ensure your retirement? Have you considered retirement? What age you want to retire? How much money do you need to have?

We are on the road to financial freedom and would love for all to join us.

Wellness Wednesdays - Clear Skin Starts on the Inside - Oil Wins Again

Oil pulling, I was introduced to this concept earlier this year and I adopted it.  Oil pulling is simply using preferably coconut oil first thing in the morning before doing anything else to clean the toxins and germs out of your mouth.

Take a small amount of coconut oil, place it in your mouth and begin to swish it around like mouthwash.  This should be done for at least 20 minutes.  Let me tell you that 20 minutes is along time attempting to oil pull if you are not occupied with other things.  I usually prepare my water for tea, wash any dishes left over from the night before, apply my oil to my face and prep my hair to name a few things while oil pulling.

During the time of the pull DO NOT SWALLOW!  Once your 20 minutes are up, spit the contents of your mouth out into the garbage, not your sink, toilet etc., the garbage.  Then prepare some warm salt water and rinse your mouth with that.  Finally brush your teeth like usual.

We prefer to use baking soda and peroxide to brush our teeth.  As soon as we purchase a container we will make a paste using baking soda, peroxide, and coconut oil.

Healthy, natural.  Oil pulling works wonders on your oral health and has amazing benefits for your skin as well!

Financial Freedom Fridays - Avoid Holiday Debt

Tis the season to be jolly, to spend time with family, to show one's love and appreciation to their family members through gifts.

It is not the season to go into BAD DEBT.  Love yourself, your future and the future of your family enough to not be in bad debt, sad, depressed, living check to check, getting pay day loans, or simply having to spend your hard earned money paying for 2015 bad debt in 2016.

Be creative, give gifts from the heart.  This doesn't mean you have to be cheap.  Give at the level that you have, nothing more/nothing less.  Create a budget for holiday gifts and stick to it.  And although it may be too late for 2015, the holidays come at the same time every year. Plan for the 2016 holidays at the beginning of 2016.  One doesn't have to wait until this time of year to start purchasing gifts.

How To Survive the Holidays

  • Create a Budget
  • Stick to your budget
  • Do not use credit cards unless paying the balance in full within 28 days
  • Get creative and make gifts (sentimental)
  • Plan ahead for 2016, save for purchases starting in January 2016
  • Manage expectations
  • Don't attach your worth and love to the amount of gifts being given or received

Wellness Wednesdays - Oil is the best facial cleanser!

What we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put inside our bodies. As I learn more about health and wellness, the various chemicals in foods and beauty products it can be overwhelming and scary.

Nevertheless, we've found a great skin care regime that works for us. They key to natural home made products is trial an error. We came across a recipe for face wash that requires only oil. Sounds weird right?

Well we tried it, have been using it for months and love it.

Simple ingredients. Olive oil and castor oil. Our recipe is 90% olive oil and 10% castor oil. Mix the oils in a bottle, then apply a small amount to your face and neck. Massage it in. Think of something peaceful and make the massage meditative. Shower or bathe as usual, then taking a white towel fold it and apply hot water. Ring the towel open it and simply lay it on your face. The heat draws the oil out. Once the towel cools, wipe your face. Re fold on the other side and repeat.

You may apply moisturizer to your face after however it's not necessary.

Here are our results and products.

Wellness Wednesdays - How Does It Feel?

I am writing this blog on Sunday morning, after eating a kale chopped salad with cabbage and brussel sprouts and it came to mind, how the food made me feel after eating it.  I topped it with a Fuji Apple Viniagrette dressing.  I feel light and energized.  I compare this feeling to how I felt Saturday after eating a Filet-O-Fish meal with extra tartar sauce from McDonald's. I felt sluggish, tired, and overly full.  These feelings let me know as I listen and pay attention to my body what foods are fueling my body and what foods are filling my body yet are void of nutritional value.

Many people when they become hungry immediately eat something and let's be hones most of the food is not healthy, most of it isn't truly FOOD!  Often times one finds themselves still hungry after.  One is still hungry because the nutrients the body was craving haven't been provided to the body.

As you go througout your day, eating today ask yourself How does it feel, how do I feel after I eat these foods?

Wellness Wednesdays - Shower Therapy

Wellness Wednesdays - Are you an Over Eater?

Just last week my sister posted on FaceBook she'd recently eaten lunch and was hungry again.  I shared with her that our bodies crave nutrients, that craving turns into a hungry signal.  Most Americans not sure about those in other countries, satisfy these cravings with foods void of nutrition.
