WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS - ANTHONY MASON DEAD AT 48 - HEART ISSUES ARE SERIOUS AND THE #1 KILLER

There is a saying, the good die young.  While they may be some truth in that, I look at the good dying young from "natural" causes or an unexpected accident.  Not something like a heart attack.  In no way is this saying Anthony Mason or any other man or woman who's lost their life to a heart attack wasn't good.

Dare we say however, when it came to health and wellness maybe they didn't make the best choices.  Health and wellness is not only about diet and exercise.  That is just half the battle. We must also manage stress, anger, fear and other negative emotions that cause disease or dis-ease in the body.

We must learn to love ourselves and our bodies, take time for the simple things like conscious breathing through deep breaths throughout the day, meditation, yoga, tai chi, qi gong....and other things that calm the body and the mind.

While watching Super Soul Sunday this past week there was a re-run with Russel Simmons, he mentioned how we don't exercise our minds through meditation, well that very few understand the practice of stillness and meditation, and more importantly how it is vital to overall health and wellness.

Over the course of the next few weeks we will delve into some common causes of heart attack and what can be done to prevent them.

The first we will explore is PHYSICAL INACTIVITY
  • Physical inactivity - people who do not exercise have a much higher risk of having a heart attack, compared to people who exercise regularly.

Many are quick to point the finger at others who smoke or don't eat right etc.  However being physically active is important for overall health.  In this example people who are physcially inactive are at risk of heart attack just as someone who smokes or is overweight.  It is important to move your body! Walk, run, bike, yoga, cardio, zumba, whatever do something.  Get your heart rate pumping EVERYDAY if you can.  Something as simple as stretching and then doing jumping jacks, high knees, running in place, jumping rope and other activities that can be done in the comfort of your own home. Whatever it is, move your body, elevate your heart rate.

I'm sure people have heard the motto USE IT OR LOSE IT! Well that saying can be applied to everything in life including your body and its internal organs.  Use it or lose it.

#RIH to Anthony Mason and those who have lost their lives due to a heart attack. Let's work on health, wellness, and prevention to save ourselves and those around us.  We want to have an abundance of health, right!?

There are 303 days left in this year, make them count!!!!!!

You may have experienced disappointment, lack, set backs, loss etc. Nevertheless, you are still here, life goes on, and you must Take Charge, OWN your Life, and be in CONTROL. ~
