T.E.A.C.H. THURSDAYS (THROUGH EDUCATION ALL CAN HAVE SUCCESS!)

Through Education All Can Have Success ~ College Bound "College Isn't For Everyone"

Some may disagree with this post but here at Epiphany Essentials we know that there isn't one road to success.  We are STRONG PROPONENTS for Education and believe in the importance of educating one's self and having knowledge in whatever area one chooses to pursue.  However, again there isn't one road to success and it is important that we all find our way and encourage our children and others we know to find their way as well!

COLLEGE BOUND

College Isn't For Everyone!

Yes you read that correctly and yes this section is for those considering college with that said we believe in being realistic when it comes to our readers. College isn't for everyone and that is alright. It is possible to be a successful, productive member of society without obtaining a degree from a 4-year college or university.

The 1st step to determining whether college is the right place for yourself or your child is to learn what they are passionate about our enjoy. Yes we understand that there are people in there mid 30's with a college education that still don't know what they want to be when they grow up. However, time, money and effort can be saved by exploring the what I want to be when I grow up without the hefty college/university bill attached to it.

How do you determine whether college is the right place for your child? Start by involving them in different programs and opportunities as early on as you can, this includes sports, music, arts, engineering, sciences, math, volunteer opportunities etc. Why is this important? This is important because your child is able to explore while they are “growing up” and have a better grasp of what it is they truly enjoy.

Of course everyone wants to be rich and wants their child to be the next doctor or lawyer but there is nothing worst then having a job or career that you hate. Unfortunately parents usually are the #1 dream killers their children. Yes, you've envisioned a life for your child but please let them determine what they want to be when they grow up and support it no matter how wacky it may seem to you.

We now live in a society where people are making money off of others being able to post pictures/videos to a site for the world to see eg. Instagram. Where a billion dollar company is in the making because people are posting their random thoughts, again for the world to see, Twitter. So again, please support your children in their dreams no matter how "wacky" they seem.

Why do we say college isn't for everyone?

There are plenty of trades that don't require a college education but do require training:

  • Electricians
  • Auto mechanics
  • Plumbers
  • Painters
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Home/business cleaning services.....

the list goes on and on but this is just to name a few.

There are also plenty of people that started successful companies after they dropped out of college.  Do not be alarmed however, as the weeks progress we will provide information on the college process and how to navigate through it.

So the first thing we encourage you and your children to do is to explore all options available, explore their likes and dislikes, allow them to shadow or volunteer in an industry they believe they are interested in before making that big step to attend college. If they still are unsure save money by allowing your child to attend a junior college to take their general education courses math, science, English just be sure the college is accredited and that the credits are accepted at most major universities. Another option is to explore receive certifications in certain fields.

Peace, Love, Joy, Abundance, Health, Happiness, Success, and Vitality, Namaste!
