DO IT OUT OF LOVE

I was watching Creflo Dollar yesterday and he was talking about our reasoning for praising, worshipping, and praying to God.

He used an analogy of, what if you had a friend that was only around you because they wanted something or vice versa? How would that make you feel? Then he asked do you only pray, praise and worship God because you want something from Him or simply because you love Him?

It was truly something to think about. The biblical text he referred to was:

Acts 16:25-28 "25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”

Creflo Dollar's point, Paul and Silas were not praying and singing hymns to God because they knew or wanted the earth to shake. They were doing it because they loved God. Creflo then went on to say that many of us therefore pray and sing hymns because we know the earth shook for Paul and Silas and we want the same for us, not necessarily for the love of God.

This doesn't take away from the fact that God wants to bless us and give us an abundantly life. It does however, convict us to praise and worship Him simply for who He is and not for what He has done or can do but because He is God and God alone, the Most High, the Great I AM, Elohim, El Shaddai.....oh I could go on and on.

Be a blessing and be blessed,
