Wellness Wednesdays ~ Heart Health

Last week many celebrated Valentine's Day, a day that celebrated for love.  Many buy balloons, cards, candy, jewelry, and more to show their significant others, children, family, and friends that they are loved and appreciated.  Since we see so many images of hearts around this time, we felt it important to speak about heart health. After all February is heart health month.

Heart disease is the #1 killer in the World!

So, how can we protect our hearts?  It all starts with diet and exercise.  Not diet in the sense of go on a diet, diet in the sense of what do you eat more often than not?

As the old saying goes, "let food be thy medicine, and thy medicine food."  So what do you feed your heart?  Fresh, real foods!  We recently saw a meme on FaceBook that said "eat food from plants, not food made in plants!"  So when you are grocery shopping, shop on the outer perimeter, those are usually the healthiest foods.  Once you start going inside the aisles you are purchasing processed and packaged foods (made in plants!).  Outside of spices, sugars, etc. of course.

Move your body, stretch, walk, run, jog, bike, take the stairs, do yoga, meditate, do some cardio, dance, do something!  Your heart will love you for it!

Drink water and avoid soda and other sugary drinks.

Starting with these tips your heart will love you more and you will feel better.

Peace, Love, Joy, Abundance, Health, Happiness, Success,
and Vitality, Namaste!
